I love, love, LOVE this time of year! Autumn is just beautiful, and Hallowe’en is so much fun! I have a busy few days coming up so I decided to get my pumpkins all sorted today! This will be a two part post: this post is for carving my pumpkins and the second post will be what I did with the insides! Enjoy!
To start you want to slice off the top of the pumpkin – the stalk doesn’t run deep so you don’t need to cut very far down! Slice off the ‘crown’ of the pumpkins head and then you scoop out the innards.
I devised a 3 bowl systematic approach. The bowl at the front was where I dumped my scoopings, and then my little Hallowe’en helper sorted it into one of three things: pumpkin seeds, pumpkin flesh and rubbish. If you are just doing this for the Jack o’ lantern then just chuck it all out!
We decided on our designs – I fancied a Jack Skellington look, and my friend fancied a traditional Jack-o’lantern! We just drew our designs by hand with a pen and then started to carve them out.
Progress! And then……. *drum roll*
Happy Hallowe’en everyone! Stay tuned for the next post to show what you can do with the guts of your pumpkin!
