My friends and I decided to do something different and take the train to Glasgow’s west end and go for food and cocktails. The same plan we’d made and forgotten about, opting for city centre/local venues, several times. So we finally did it.
On the wettest day ever, I was soaked, tired and for the first time in my life I didn’t want to go for lunch. I wanted to go home and drink tea on my couch! We arrived at Spuntini on Byres Road – it’s so cute!
I loved this huge metal mural which covered the whole of the big stone wall. It’s beautiful!

Onto the food! We decided to go for the ‘Daytime Tasting Menu‘ which is an Italian style tapas. It was AMAZING value for money! For only £6.99 you can choose three tapas dishes from a selection of Italian dishes – soup, pizza, pasta, seafood – a really good variety!
We opted for:
Fussili Crema E Funghi (Creamy mushroom pasta)
Arancini Formaggio (Deep fried cheese & risotto balls)
Mussels in a garlic cream
Pattate Arrosto (similar to Patatas Bravas)
Small Pepperoni Pizza
I am a huge fan of Minestrone soup and it has my approval – it was beautiful!
The mussels were fresh and the sauce was nice and rich! You could tell just by looking at it that it would taste nice!
The food was really nice! The portion sizes were perfect – we had plenty food to work through and we nearly finished it all! The pasta dishes were really tasty and full of flavour – the mushroom fusilli really didn’t look up to much but it was gorgeous!
The only thing I didn’t like was the pepperoni frittata. It was quite disappointing! It was more like an omlette! One big chunk of potato and two bits of pepperoni. I would have preferred it if they’d diced it up and it was a balance of the egg, potato and meat!
I would recommend this restaurant! After sampling a variety of dishes on this menu I would like to go back and order from the à la carte menu. Amazing value for money, beautiful restaurant and the staff were very friendly and attentive!
